About Illahe
Illahe is a Chinook Indian word which means "home; place where I live."
Illahe Tileworks designs and produces a wide variety of decorative handcrafted tile suitable for kitchens, baths, fireplaces, floors, walls and counters for home and business. From the initial clay mixing to the final firing, the artisans at Illahe Tileworks offer a wide variety of choices and glaze colors. Relief designs are available as decos, liners or murals and can be combined with field tile and trims produced at the tileworks. Custom work is welcome and creative solutions can be designed for unique installations. Historical and traditional sources provide inspiration as well as the fruits and flowers of daily life.

| Susan E. Springer
Tile artist and owner of Illahe Tileworks in Ashland, Oregon, Sue Springer designs and produces a wide variety of decorative handmade tile as well as custom murals and art tile works. Prior to graduate study toward an MFA at the University of Oregon, she worked extensively in ceramic sculpture and pottery. Living and working in Ashland, Oregon in the foothills of the Siskiyou Mountains, there is abundant inspiration in the landscape and wildlife found in the forests and gardens of the area. Always striving to keep a balance between one of a kind custom work, murals, public art and the studio production tile line, each aspect of the work contributes to the development of the other.
In addition to studio production lines, Ms. Springer has been designing commissions for residential, private and public clients since 1979. She has completed tile installations for the state of Oregon and private corporations. |

Located in Ashland, Oregon, the artisans at Illahe Tileworks design and hand craft the designs for sites across the country. Each order and mural project, large or small, receives individual attention. We love challenges, and would be happy to design something extraordinary for your project.

THE GALLERY

Illahe Design Studio and Gallery
is a unique combination of tile showroom and
fine arts gallery, focusing on art and design for the
home. The Design Studio, in conjunction with
Illahe Tileworks, allows us to work directly with
clients to create ceramic tile, murals and ceramic
art, as well as custom glazes and designs.
The Gallery provides a changing display of functional
to-fanciful art for the home. In addition to tile and
ceramic art, we feature cast glass, wrought iron,
handcrafted wood furniture, hot glass light fixtures,
custom mosaics, handmade ceramic and glass
sinks and hand carved wood fireplace mantlepieces.
Our goal: to beautify homes and enrich lives.
